Figure Skating Director
Stacey Mons
Technically, Stacey’s first love is her husband—Matt Mons, Carolina Ice Palace’s hockey director. But figure skating? It’s a really close second. Stacey’s been on the ice since she was 8, skating first as a competitive medalist and later as a touring professional and coach. With more than 25 years on the ice, her goal is to maintain a fun, positive learning environment for students of all ages. Sandy Lenz Jackson A 1980 Olympian and two-time national champion, Sandy’s experience includes a decade of teaching and nearly two decades as a professional show skater. Sandy’s greatest joy is watching her students develop a shared passion for the sport. In every session—from beginner classes to competitive practices—she uses positive reinforcement and encouragement to help students of all ages achieve their goals. Leslie Chabot In her nearly three decades of coaching, Leslie’s developed the talent of numerous figure skaters. Her student athletes have included Ice Skating Institute World Champions as well as U.S. Figure Skating national and junior Olympic medalists. At Carolina Ice Palace, she enjoys teaching the fundamentals to recreational skaters as much as refining the techniques of competitors. Her goal is to foster a life-long love of the sport for all students, from young children to grown adults. Tiffaney Kress-Tanner Described by her students as a down to earth, positive coach, Tiffaney’s been teaching for over 13 years and has been involved as a competitor, performer and coach for more than 25. She’s helped students pass numerous figure skating tests administered by U.S. Figure Skating, and has coached U.S. Figure Skating regional medalists and Ice Skating Institute world champions. Like all of Carolina Ice Palace’s coaches, she most enjoys helping students develop a lasting love of figure skating. Tiffany teaches freestyle, moves, choreography, dance, pairs, and group lessons. Libbie Chabot-Lundeen Libbie’s love of figure skating shines in her teaching. Even after 24 years of coaching, she still approaches every session with enthusiasm. Her own experience includes medals in singles and pairs skating, as well as a tour with the Ice Capades. Over the years, Libbie’s worked as a skating director and head pro, and her students have medaled in several national and world championships. Leslie teaches groups, singles, pairs, power, edge classes, moves in the field and choreography. Contact Libbie at 843-475-5783.

Corey Mjaatvedt Corey’s surrounded by skaters. Literally. His mother, wife and niece are all figure skating judges, his sister coaches, and his favorite skate dancing partner is his daughter, Megan. He’s been on the ice since he was an eight-year-old in Utah, competing and medaling in regional and sectional U.S. Figure Skating competitions. Before moving to Charleston, he directed Ogden, Utah’s skating program and coached at Sun Valley, Salt Lake City, and the Ice Club of Baltimore. Corey combines this vast experience with his love of the sport to help his students, from beginners to advanced competitors, reach their goals. Corey teaches ice dancing, edge classes, and footwork classes.

Debbie Rosenbaum Debbie’s been figure skating and playing hockey since she was a young girl in Colorado. She’s an accredited hockey instructor who’s also coached numerous students through U.S. Figure Skating testing and regional competitions. In addition to her time at Carolina Ice Palace, she teaches beginning and intermediate figure skating classes as an adjunct professor at the College of Charleston. Debbie teaches freestyle, moves, synchronized and group sessions, as well as off-ice conditioning for figure and hockey skaters.

Richard Swenning A U.S. Figure Skating Association triple gold medalist, Richard’s been teaching and performing for more than 20 years. His coaching techniques are inspired by the years he spent studying with world champions and Olympic coaches. His experience includes a stint as head teaching pro in Switzerland, as well as several years choreographing for both national champions and skating productions. At Carolina Ice Palace, his classes incorporate a computer simulated program that speeds the learning process and helps students develop great technique.
